How to Get as Much as You Can from the Amazon Associate Program

July 28, 2011

Lots of the associates who earn major bucks through the Amazon Associate Program do so by taking advantage of new opportunities. When you’re ready to take the next step and get ahead of your competitors, it’s time to focus on using this program to your and your business’s advantage.

Sell More to Go Higher: Making more money with Amazon Associates involves more than just doing a little bit of promotion from time to time; you need to work on consistently selling a higher product volume so that you can get to the next tier in the program. The program is set up so that the people who sell more products have a higher commission volume.

To put it more simply, the more you sell the higher your commission is going to be for your individual sales. A good way to do this is to target a niche that doesn’t have as much competition, i.e., a niche with products that do not cost as much as those associated with other markets. But the main reason you’re choosing these niches is because it’ll be easier to sell a large number of products in them – you are pretty much interested in these markets. This will allow you to reach the coming payout tiers without trouble, which obviously translates to a higher commission percentage for you.

Publish a Recurring Deals Post: If you’re running a blog through which you’re promoting the Amazon products, you can take a smart step and actually mention the popular products on your website by doing a “Weekly Deals” post, where you would help people find and discover the best deals. In other words, you’ll basically be doing a blog post every week that offers you the best deals within the niche. And how often can you honestly publish this sort of blog post? It honestly depends on how quickly your readers get burned out by regular features (or demand them) but posting once a week is a good place to start.

Feature a Bestseller List: Amazon makes it very simple for people to shop online via its bestseller page which is where you can search through a list of products based on your niche market. You can list the top five or ten products on your website to get the best results. A quick way to increase revenue is to publish one of these “Bestseller Lists” on your own site and mention which products are currently trending elsewhere. Amazon tells you exactly which products are the best sellers and which are the most likely to actually be bought by site visitors.

Focus your attention, instead, on something important: consistency; it is your consistency that will help you outshine your competition.

  1. I’ve always wondered how people make money on Amazon. I figured they were selling products. Didn’t realize it was affiliate marketing. Good post!

  2. I also had no idea you could be an affiliate of amazon. I always wondered why people seem to have stores everywhere on the internet, I figured they were people who were actually selling items through amazon. I guess some of them are and the others are just advertising amazon products for a commission. Great idea!
