If Your Blog Needs Comments, Then Follow This Plan

February 11, 2012

One of the best things you can achieve with your blog is develop an active community. The funny thing about some blog webmasters is they ignore that part and wonder what is wrong.

What you have to do is discover all the little things you can do that makes people feel it is all right to say something. That is the hurdle you have to overcome, and the end result can be amazing. There are some foundational issues to know, and here are roughly three that can be of value.

If your blog is not a do-follow blog, then you should make it do-follow as it’ll help you attract the attention of readers that want to comment and gain an SEO benefit as well. We personally do not like encouraging other marketers to spam the comment section, but you can do what you want. You may be able to find a free blog filter plugin for spam, but the old one that used to be free changed a long time ago. You can attract all the SEO people who want to get PR from you and a backlink, if you want. Become a thought leader within your niche and show your readers that you know what you’re talking about. Since most people want to do minimal work, then you have to choose your niches wisely. Also, understand that there are different writing strategies you can use no matter what niche you are in. These are all the little things you can do in your writing to encourage more comments.

Practice some real gratitude as a blogger and show your readers your soft side.

Always exercise good business sense in your correspondence with your audience. What you want to do is work on your online persona and reputation, and this is how you create a solid name for yourself. So if you treat people how they would like to be treated, then they will respond in kind generally speaking. It is hard to overcome poor content if you are going for increased commenting activity. Realize the need for some patience with all this because people will not respond overnight. All of this is really fairly easy to do, and there are more techniques you can use if you seek them out. Get in the habit of being an action taker, and eventually things will begin to break through for you.
